you spray painted your motherboard and video card and ram ...

If it ever works again it's going to smell awful for weeks/months

please tell me you were having a bit too much red wine when you did this

sure hope you at least had the sense to use high temperature exhaust and manifold paint since it's less likely to melt off

Ok I did my research and apparently painting your motherboard and ram and video card works sometimes

Didn't work for this guy
http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost....3&postcount=94
Quote:
...So I proceed to paint the graphics card (radeon 9600 AIW) along witht he ram (slow pc 133 stock). Now the system woudln't post. So I swap out every part I have at disposal. It turns out my cpu was fried???
things don't make sense
1: my cpu was never painted...
it did work for this guy but the paint melted off hot parts of the motherboard
http://forums.bit-tech.net/showpost....&postcount=145
Quote:
Concerning heat: I noted that the only parts on the board that were notably hotter after spraying were the Toroidal coils, since they caused the paint to melt. Yes, the components on modern motherboards do produce more heat than their ancestors, but in general, the MOSFETs, CPU, northbridge, and southbridge put off the most heat.
I'd also like to point out that in every example I could find the modders covered ports (IDE, SATA, etc) and slots (RAM, PCI, etc) before painting. I could not find one example where someone painted over their SATA ports and RAM/PCI slots like in this thread.

I'm subscribing, I want to see what happens, I'll be shocked if it works

Then you'll just have to continue searching, I didn't paint any pins or other places that needs to be conductive.

The paint itself not conductive, the chips was covered, and are water cooled. If there is any heat output it will most likely travel to the open places, which are covered with water blocks.

It also withstands heat, and does not start to smell when getting warm.
I know this since I've built 3 motorbikes featuring this paint..

I can post a worklog of me exchanging a HD5450 for a HD5650 in a HP OEM computer if this is too extreme for ya.

Thanks all, I'll put something new up in here soon.

You got a really nice job on it, did you prime it or anything beforehand?

I would love to see that epic worklog of the HD5650 if you'd be so kind, sounds like a modding nightmare
