if you dont want to remove the batttery, its your best bet. im not sure about the sata controllers, but i doubt it since most good pc's have sata drives and most overclockers have had a run in with the cmos a few times
cant complain..

The Sata Controllers are hardware based on your motherboard. Clearing your C-mos wil lhave no affect on them at all so dont worry.

I had a maxtor go bad in my HP. Their program royaly stinks. I run WDs in my real rig. I love raid 0... Sata configs are held in the cmos.

Raid is pretty sweet, but it makes installation of windows a little more intensive than it would otherwise be. But that time is made up for when everything opens in a fraction of the time it did before. I want another drive to try raid 5...

My maxtor was a dirt cheap one. Hp replaced it with a diamondback tho..

You get a floppy with the raid drivers on it when you buy your mobo. you install the drives, and enable raid 0 in the bios, and then configure the controler. Then you reinstall windows and press some F-key when asked if you need to install raid drivers. You put in the floppy, tell it to coppy the files, pull out the floppy and continue the install, which is the exact same from this point.

Good Luck. Were with ya.
