When I updated my drivers today, I saw something about purevideo and was wondering if my card has it and if it does is it automatically enabled or do I have to set something or what? how do I know if its working or not?

Yes your card has it.
All 7xxx have it Id bet and prolly the newer 6xxx have it.
Its basically like it uses aa and stuff on video..
So for instance on my computer screen at resolution 1600x1200 it has the smoothness of being at 800x600.
It works too cus in VLC player you can choose to use the video rendering/hardware rendering or w/e and you can notice the difference in family guy.
Like it looks like crap fullscreen at 1600x1200 but with the rendering hardware thing on it looks like dvd quality almost.
There are prolly other functions too but basically it makes video look better.

ANd a list of what products support what aspects of purevideo.
http://www.nvidia.com/page/purevideo_support.html

There is software tho it only works for wmp and media center.
And you gotta pay so its not that cool.

I havent tested out the software yet but I will soon.
LoL
Dont really need it either, the hardware is enough.

Tho if u want the software, theres a trial here.

and a small list of what it does with descriptions

yeah it's on. I don't even think there's an option to change it on or off. It's just their add for good color and clarity when watching vidoes on your PC.

NVIDIA PureVideo Technology

NVIDIA PureVideo technology is the combination of a dedicated video processing core and software that delivers high-definition H.264, VC-1, WMV, and MPEG-2 movies with minimal CPU utilization and low power consumption. The precision subpixel processing enables videos to be scaled to any size, so that even small videos look like they were recorded in high-resolution.
Hope that helps /\\

The funniest thing is that you dont even need it.
The hardware does everything.
You just use this as the software.
I mean VLC player does pretty much everything there is there.

Wow, it actually looks cleaner.. I'm streaching a 400x400 mpeg-2 video to 1280x1024 and it looks dvd-like.. amazing... good stuff... but theres no way in hell I'm paying.
