New to Nvidia Overclocking

Thread Starter
uh well i own a pci-e Nvidia 6600 and im wondering what are the normal temps for a gfx card my temps atm are around 35 to 40 degree's celcius and i cant seem to go any higher than 400/450 lets say if i had a better graphics cooler would this enable me to clock it higher? i have about 3 80mm fans blowing itonto it atm and i have seen some improvment in stability but every one and a while i suffer from a comeplete system freeze.
my stocks clocks: 300/400
overclocked atm: 400/450
temps 35 and above.

Better cooling = better OCing. If lucky you could take that 6600 to 500MHz for the GPU, but with better cooling, something like AS5. For the memory... no ideas, it depends on each card what it can do, but 450 is not bad.

dude, those are AWESOME temps...are you using coolbits 2.0 to overclock with? if so, you can try setting it to 455/355.

my temp atm is 37 and it wont let me clock it to 455/355 during teh testa there are no signs of artifacts so why is it failing the only times i see artifacts is when i test the settings 400/500...

Those temps are insanely low.

If it fails, lower it a few MHz and try again.
How are you monitoring your temps? RivaTuner?
You might need to volt mod it. The NV43 cores (sans 6600GT) don't seem to go above 440 and that area. I can't go that high anymore. You sure about your temps? I'd download Riva Tuner and ATI Tool. Use Riva to monitor you temperature, and then use the 3D view in ATI tool to stress test. I get around 42C idle and 71C load.
temp also depends on if the card is working idle or stressed, but this seems ok (both ways )
