So I been thinking, maybe it wasn't such a good idea blowing up the Collector's base. I wish Bioware had given us the option to give it to the Alliance or Citadel as opposed to only the TIM. If you think about it, Sovereign single handily took most of an Alliance fleet by itself. How many top of the line military vessels would we need to take on a full strength armada of Reapers who are justifiably pissed off? This got me thinking all the way back to the storyline of ME1 and just how much of an impact Shepard's future allies will actually make.

To start off, I know that since Sovereign's attack on Citadel that weapons have come along way, though not being able to slap Omni-Gel on anything and everything seems to be a step backwards. More specifically, we can look towards Normandy SR-2 of just how far non-Reaper technology has advanced. However, we quickly realize that Normandy SR-2, like its predecessor, is a very rare and absolute top of the line ship. On top of that, the Thanix cannon that the Turians stole and redesigned from Sovereign is merely one beam. This leads to the following questions:

- How many Normandy SR-2 ships can the Alliance and Council pop out to help fend off the Reaper invasion?
- Will the Council continue to turn nose about Reapers despite the new evidence that Shepard found at the end of ME2? History here damns us with the Council's traditional sense of passing blame.
- If the ME universe cannot get its act together to start building more warships, how many crappier warships will it take to nullify each Reaper?

This also leads to another equally important question; do the Reapers all have the same level of technology or, more specifically, how high of a level was Sovereign when compared to the rest. If they left Sovereign behind because he was the most advanced, then ME universe stands a much better chance of defeating them. If each Reaper was just as strong or stronger, then all the allies and ships in the world may not be enough.

Now to get to our allies. As we have many of them and each have their own intricacies, I will separate each species into its own paragraph.

The first ally will obviously be Humans. Shepard currently has the Alliance standing behind him and sacrifices aside, Humans are the only species to have directly defeated a Reaper. The story also builds the Humans to be a very versatile and superior race of species with all its talk about humans being diverse, how humans advanced much faster in intergalactic politics than other species, and how the Reapers tried to make a Human Reaper. Considering Shepard is a hero of his species, they should be quick to fall in line behind Shepard and Anderson and provide significant contributions.

The next species up on deck would probably be the Krogans. Wrex, assuming you didn't off him on Virmire, is obviously a friend of Shepard's and has conveniently united the Krogan. If Moridin can manage to alleviate the fatality rate of the Genophage, the Krogans will be able to return back to their horde days, allowing Shepard to spam an endless supply of Krogans at the Reapers. While they may not have any worthwhile ships of their own, an army of Krogans snuck into a Reaper should be able to cause substantial hell.

Quarians also appear to be yet another ally of Shepard. If you played the nice Shepard, you have saved at least 5-6 Quarians and considering how tightly knit they are, I am fairly sure Shepard already has a lot of clout. It is also very important to calculate Tali's romantic feelings into Shepard's influence as she is considered by many as a Princess due to being the daughter of a former Admiral. In fact, if you managed to win the trial without outing her father, she states that many are trying to promote her to Admiral. While I highly doubt she will agree to the promotion and will stay with him, this should bring a lot of Quarians over to Shepard's side.

The Geth, despite their quibbles with Quarians, seem to be an ally of Shepard's already for the simple reason that they aren't on the Reaper's side. Also, if you continue to speak with Legion after completing his loyalty mission, in addition to not having a e-hard on for Shepard, the Geth prefer to make peace with the Quarians and have been properly maintaining their home world. If the warmongering Quarians can dig their heads out of their collective ass and realize that the Geth never wanted to fight, they can finally return to their homeworld and use their massive Flotilla for something useful, like help saving the universe.

The Rachni are obviously allies of Shepard, but the question remains of how useful can these insects actually be? I know the Queen remembers everything the previous Queens experienced and they have progressed fast enough to have already built scout ships. However, it took an entire species to amass a significant threat for one Reaper. One has to wonder just how much can the Rachni contribute with its very late start to the party.

Liara as a Shadow Broker will definitely help out a lot as well in shifting political views behind the scene. Liara stated that she can start a war in about 8 minutes. I wonder how long it will take for her to broker peace? However, as the SB, she wields considerable power when only normal species are involved. The Reapers transcend any amounts of info and technology she can gather for the simple reason of they are a species an entire level above those currently in the ME universe.

With the immediate allies accounted for, this leaves us with the Council races, Hanar, Drell, Batarians, and Vorcha. I think the Batarians and Vorcha will probably join up with the Reapers as no one else has done anything to make them even remotely appreciative. As far as the Hanar and Drell, I really doubt they will play any sort of significant role in future battles. This leaves us with the Council races and with a few exceptions, man are they useless! The biggest help I can anticipate Shepard may get will be from the Asari due to his many Asari connections. Otherwise, I see the Council and associated species will prove to be more of hindrance than anything.

These are my speculations and opinions. What do you guys think?

In ME3 there will be a secret weapon. There just will be. Either that or the Reapers will destroy all civilization, but then Shepard will pull a Jason Bourne and come back and punch the reapers in the face. And Tali and Garrus will be there because they are too cool to die.

That's not true. Tali and Garrus and Shepard are the trifecta of ownage, and can kill a reaper just by looking at it. You know it's true...

Will interesting to what emerges in ME3 as the secret weapon(s).

Could be a combination of:

1) Rachni
2) Edi (and newly unleashed abilities, or just her voice)
3) Geth (Legion brings his friends, and maybe reprogrammed Heretics too)
4) Liara as Shadow Broker
5) Tali...need more be said?
6) Garrus does his Archangel thing and snipes them all!
7) Miranda's sister!?! (Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me...)
I think that the Quarians and the Geth will get along. I have thought this since I finished ME2 for the first time. Garrus doing his FPS Doug thing can't hurt either.
