I did speculate about the game a long time ago

Spoiler warning folks!!!1

# Council will act like an ass and dismiss reaper’s story till they crap their pants when reapers invade.
# Ashley might become the captain/admiral of the alliance, so that settles army from human’s side to handle the reapers.
# Garrus might go back to the Turian army, convince his higher-ups to join the fight against the reapers.
# Tali (assuming she is not exiled/her father is not blamed for treason in ME2) might become an admiral, or else she will use her title as one of the saviours of the galaxy to convince the admiralty board to join Shepard’s war against the reapers.
# Wrex would finally merge the entire krogan clan and make a mighty army and maybe grunt as his general!
# Mordin might cure the genophage/ Thane’s sickness or round-up his sources in special task group.
# Legion will play an important role to convince the entire galaxy that the Geth are not the bad guys and the heretics are re-purposed. Clearing Geth’s name might make the people question council’s claims about citadel’s attack and weaken their control. Anderson might step in as the sole leader of citadel space.
# Jack would become the leader of the mercenary group, most likely batarians or maybe biotic based.
# Kahlee sanders (characters are there in 2 mass effect novels) might end up being the brains behind Shepard.
# Cerberus hunting down shepard, might use Zaeed against you.
# Samara might rally up the troops, whereas Liara might end up taking over Mordin’s job aboard the normandy.
# The rachni (assuming you let them live in ME1) will join you in Shepard’s war against the reapers, assuming you will help them earn the council’s respect.
# Thane is on the verge of dying. Might live if he’s cured or else his son might aid you.
# Miranda and Jacob will still be at your side, but most likely Miranda feeding intel to the illusive man. Jacob re-joins the alliance.
# The illusive man might try to gain prothean technology by trying to revive any prothean tech left in Illos, using the same lazarus experiment as he did on ME2.

omg omg omg

I'm gonna have the Rachni (via asari), Geth (via Legion + Quarian decision), Krogan (via Wrex + obvious) + romance with as many as 3 asari.

oooh hi hi hhaha hihihi perfect foreshadowing playthrough is perfect

Although it looks like instead of recruiting squad members you'll be recruiting races to help fight? Ehhh...preferred the ME1 style but ok whatever I WANT MY MASS EFFECT.

BRB having 3rd book read to me.

edit: oh and quarians

I'm full Paragon and I made Tali and Legion get along, so unless there's some ridiculous and annoying plot twist where my favorite characters die (and my disc gets snapped in half) then I should be in business.

I think Shepards story will be a trilogy, but I also think they'll make prequels or sequels based around other events. (Eg. The Quarian-Geth war might get resolved in another trilogy rather than in ME3, or maybe we'll play as a Quarian during the start of that war or as a Prothean during the fight for the reapers, etc)

And yes, defaultshep ftw. (Can't help that every time I make a custom Shepard he looks creepy in at least one cutscene)

Heck, give me access to the Rachni, to Wrex, to the Geth, and the flottila, and I will show the reapers ...
Actually, due to a math error, some Geth were loyal to Saren and Sovereign, they weren't brainwashed at all, play through Legions loyalty mission in ME2 for more info.

I think the best thing to do is finish at ME3, then Bioware goes to make other games for a while, and look back in 5 years to start thinking about a follow-up. It's a bit ridiculous how often big publishers milk franchises to death.
I'd think if they did a different story, it'd be good.
Think like what happened with Star Wars, it went from one time to another in the movies, I'd say do something like that...But something actually good, unlike the Star Wars prequel trilogy.

I think Liara will be a likely squadmate for ME3, though. I mean, it's impossible to kill her off.
I really doubt that, Liara is practically confirmed to be in ME3 as some sort of major part, the Lair of the Shadow Broker DLC was meant as the first of ME2 to ME3 bridging DLC, so what happens then is going to be fairly important in ME3.

I think that Shep will get a new Normandy that is more powerful, etc in ME3 and he'll pick the best out of all of his squadmates from ME1 and ME2 on that then leave the Normandy SR-2 to the other squadmates.

That will be impressive.
Wouldn't be too hard, just add wrinkles.

Or maybe it's set right as ME3 ends.

That being said, it is essential to play ME1 to carry over the save file to ME2 to gain access to certain choices, dialogues, and storyline which will hopefully prove fruitful in ME3. If you do not play ME1, you do not have the option of:

- Continuing romance with Ashley/Liara or the respective male NPC's
- Meeting with Wrex, the most awesome Krogan ever
- Having Rachni Queen in ME3
- Having Anderson on the Council with the old members and maintaining your position as Spectre, though they don't do jack for you so far in ME1 or 2
- Meet Conrad again, who is by far the biggest video game douchebag retard I have ever met
- There are others but I can't remember them right now

If Bioware keeps their promise that choices made in ME1 and 2 do have significant impact in ME3, then you should probably play ME1.
Wrong.

She'll effect it...Even if its just as another squadmate, she'll definitely affect it.

It might be a 1 minute cutscene, like at the end of ME1.

Remember, ME2 had to tie it all together fairly closely so ME3 didn't have about 10000 different storylines, ME3 shouldn't have to tie anything together so they can go wild with the different endings.

Chances are a lot of the animations can reused, plus they probably did a bit of the stuff for ME3 while they were making ME2, like how Kasumi's dialog files were in ME2 before the DLC came out.

- Thane has that disease and will be dead shortly after the Collectors mission.
Liara could still come back, who's to say she can't do the SB stuff on the Normandy? Plus it's hinted at if you stay faithful to her.
Wrex will definitely help to fight the Reapers, he's a Krogan...No Krogan would live with themselves if they skipped that fight.
Mordin was around 30 something, Salarians live to around 40-50 usually...He'll be old but probably alive.
Thane has a few years left, I think, as long as he stays well treated, I can't remember where I saw it but it was on the Wiki.

With the immediate allies accounted for, this leaves us with the Council races, Hanar, Drell, Batarians, and Vorcha. I think the Batarians and Vorcha will probably join up with the Reapers as no one else has done anything to make them even remotely appreciative. As far as the Hanar and Drell, I really doubt they will play any sort of significant role in future battles. This leaves us with the Council races and with a few exceptions, man are they useless! The biggest help I can anticipate Shepard may get will be from the Asari due to his many Asari connections. Otherwise, I see the Council and associated species will prove to be more of hindrance than anything.

These are my speculations and opinions. What do you guys think?
The Rachni, due to being a hivemind and already having the ship designs (The queens memory) could have a fairly large amount of ships built in a small time, that's the main benefit of a hivemind, if you want to concentrate on one thing, everyone will.

I think Liara being the SB will dramatically help the council to actually start taking the Reapers seriously, the Turians have the most ships (That I know of at least) and the Asari have some elite forces, as do the Salarians (I really want to hear "Hold the line!" in ME3) and honestly, I'm pretty sure Liara can leak some evidence of Reapers towards the council.

I know what the weapon is...It's Wrex when he has gas.
You could just imagine Harbinger: "You will die, She-OH GOD THE STENCH, THIS HURTS ME"

- They were exterminated by Krogan utilizing horde rushes
- They live in harsh environments
- They communicate by singing
- They were indoctrinated by the Reapers to become violent
- They will join you in the war against Reapers
- They are very good at building, already pumping out scouts within 2 years
The singing is the hivemind style stuff, they're the Zergs of the ME universe.
