oh and sweff, the reason I don't want the ending changed, is plain and simple, not that it was a perfect ending, not that it made complete sense, it had a lot of plot holes, I agree on that... but I can overlook it... what I can't stand is people crying out for something so irrelevant and focusing on something so minuscule that they forget what they've been through to get there...

sure the ending was disappointing... sure it wasn't what you expected, but I can't see anyone complaining about the ENTIRE game up to that point... 99% of the game was excellent, multiplayer co-op included... (which was a surprise)

sure 1 little thing can destroy the bigger picture of something, but going this far is just ridiculous

I've said this a lot of times in different threads, but I'm really fearing our future generation... if internet is what our society will turn out to be...

THAT right there is entitlement...

what you expect and what you think you DESERVE are 2 different things...

and entitlement shouldn't be an argument... nor is expectation on that matter...

it turned out the way it is, we're all disappointed... but to call for an outrage and demand it being changed, that's plain selfish

If one feels something is mediocre/substandard/rushed, but simply accepts it and refuses to ask for better, then they deserve mediocrity. And if expecting and asking for quality is entitlement, then I support the "entitled" ME3 writer/artists who were disappointed at what one implied was a rush job, and were willing to speak up at risk of their job.

asking to do better next time (which unfortunately there might not be any, for most of the "mediocre/substandard/rushed" products, they simply stopped existing) is different as asking something that's already been done to be CHANGED...

and you still don't seem to understand ENTITLEMENT...

if you THINK you DESERVE to be having something for something you THINK you've done and achieved, that's entitlement... as such is the argument that "because I spent hundreds of hours on this game, I DESERVE a better ending"...

entitlement is valid in service products, you DESERVE to be served for what you worked for/paid for, but for a product that's mass produced, for many consumers, offering something exactly identical, entitlement is complete out of the picture (unless that product is a highly limited product, or completely unique to that one thing alone). YOU are NOT the only person receiving it, asking it to cater to YOUR needs is being selfish... that's the end of it... if you want to bend it any other way, and ask something to be made your way, then you're being unreasonable...

what's done is done, disappoint all you want, complain all you want, but there's simply no RIGHT to DEMAND it to be CHANGED because YOU as a PERSON or a GROUP of persons did NOT like it... and again, is also completely different from asking for improvement on the next iteration...

of course, this being the last in the trilogy, there might not be a next one, but that still does not justify how asking a finished product to be changed is in any way shape or form reasonable...

again, this isn't a service, this isn't something that's "catered to you and you alone"

and again, no one seems to realize this, but Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 both had the "choice" aspects in the game, where players made their own choices to have it impact the outcome of the game... but HOW did it impact the outcome?

Mass Effect, you save or kill the council, save or sacrifice the alliance ships... did that stop them from killing Sovereign? the ending was STILL the same...
Mass Effect 2, who stayed alive, who died, or who did what had NO impact on if you destroy the collector base or not, hell even Shepard dying still allowed the base to be obliterated...

what's so different about THIS game? what did you expect the ending choices to be!?

if you look back at the 2 previous games, they've done the exact same thing, and no one was complaining about the ending "offering no choice!" ... they did... it was so minute it didn't even matter... it made you FEEL like you had a role to play in the whole thing... until someone realized in ME3 and pointed out "our choices didn't make any difference!!!" then everyone started seeing how their choices didn't "matter"... it never did to begin with...

but what was so good about Mass Effect to begin with? their "amazing ending"!? no... it was the road to get there... the whole experience, with your squads, the adventures you've been through, to get to where they were... whatever the ending was...

and now Mass Effect 3 delivers an even better experience on that regard than the previous 2, and you're all ignoring it and jump to the ending and criticize it and how it ruins the whole Mass Effect series?!

whatever happened internally in the studio happened... the ending being one of the things being disagreed on, but I'm pretty certain MANY other aspects of the game have had a LOT of disagreements as well, only there's no public outcry about it so no one is interested in what actually happened... it's just business as usual... and you, as a public will NEVER know what went on during the entire development process, and how the final decision was reached... whatever the "inside sources" say, they're also biased opinions, so you'll never truly get a perfect idea of what ACTUALLY happened... their words aren't final neither, so you can't count on those as an argument neither...

ONLY thing that's definite, is what's done is done, and asking for it to be modified or changed is unreasonable, that's the end of it...

but I'm very sure most of you are completely fine being "unreasonable" thinking you have all the right in the world right?

public opinion can be many things...

what SHOULD and SHOULDN'T matter is a whole different thing...

the point I'm trying to make is, THIS thing, is COMPLETELY and UTTERLY irrelevant and people are taking it WAY out of proportions... we have lost the ability to prioritize and be REASONABLE...

there are ALWAYS compromises to be made, nothing will EVER be perfect... but for something like Mass Effect 3 where 95% was GREAT, AWESOME and AMAZING, where only the last tiny bit fell short, and everyone just jumps the gun on it and demand it to be changed entirely, is just outrageous and selfish...

selfishness will ruin society... that's where I'm getting at

Dude, calm down. First, I never called for an outrage or demanded that the ending be changed. I'd love for it to happen, but nowhere did I put a gun to anyone's head and demand that they rewrite it. I simply expressed my disappointment and the ending to an otherwise fantastic series. I was hoping for an ending that was worthy of, in other words would validate, the huge amount of time I spent enjoying the other parts of the trilogy. That ending did not appear, and I have the right to express my dissatisfaction.

Also, I don't know if you realize it, but accusing someone of being entitled is offensive. I'm a first generation immigrant and my family worked hard to afford me the lifestyle through which I could enjoy such luxuries as video gaming. I myself outworked my peers to get into a top tier graduate school; as you can imagine this leaves little time for gaming and makes the time that I do spend on it all the more precious. Aside from my parents' support, which was enormous but also had clear boundaries, I wasn't given much by the outside world. I worked for it and earned it. To accuse me of having a sense of entitlement due to wishing for a better ending to a video game is simply incorrect.

please don't take it personally... although I was replying YOUR post, I'm not proclaiming my opinion against you as a person alone (I would've done that in a Private Message), I'm saying this to EVERY other person who thinks the ending should be changed simply because "they deserve it" for spending so much time on the previous games... I'm saying that's not an argument...

also, what you're saying is entitlement... there's no avoiding the fact... the very words you used screams "entitlement"... no offense to you or your family, because like I said in my other post just a few above yours, entitlement is COMPELTELY and ENTIRELY valid in for services, and also how you live your life, because... because they're catering to you and yourself alone... if you want something done for you because you've worked hard for it, and asks for that service to be changed, you have all the right... even then, the horrible/bad services they've provided you, is also already provided... you cannot go back in time to ask them to be different, because it just can't be...

for something like a finished product that's distributed to the masses and demand it to be changed to YOUR specifications, is unreasonable...

and again, I'm not saying you personally, but in general, most of the outcry and arguments against the ending have had something to do with entitlement... and your post was the best example of such argument...

PS: I'm perfectly calm... and did not intend any of my arguments to be an insult... and I admit, at the end of the day, it is STILL an opinion, of me, myself, and I... and does not validate or dictate how the world should be run, so just take it as a grain of salt...
