Since I had burned mobo together with my DV OUT on camcorder, CoolerMaster offered me to order any article from their products for free. This is really good move from CoolerMaster and I will continue to buy their products since they acted very fair towards me... BRAVO COOLERMASTER!!!
That is pretty sweet that they took care of the problem and offered you some free stuff. Thats what I call customer service...

Wow, Coolermaster has awesome support

But, I asked a question some time ago, and didnt get a strait answer;

If i smell something burnt when I turn on my computer (LED Connected and ON) but my computer is working. Is that a burnt Firewire chip? will it work without this chip? Will firewire connections work?

Edit: only smellt burnt the first time I turned it on, dont smell anything now and still have LED on

The same thing happened to me. I was plugging my 32Gb Kingston USB in to my comp to copy all the data off it as a backup and it did not show up in windows for like 1 min so i decided to pull it out and try it in the other port.

When i pulled it out i had another surprise. It was FREAKIN HOT. Ruined my USB3.0 port on my UD9 and my 32GB usb. I foolishly thought that it must of been Gigabytes "3x USB Power" on the USB3 so I decided to swap the cables to the standard USB2.0 headers.

So about a week later i buy THIS USB.

Because I thought the problem was fixed I just went ahead and plugged it in. Instantly i could smell a burning smell. This Ruined my 2nd 32Gb USB and another USB header on my UD9.

The whole time i thought this was a problem with the UD9 (I got it on release date) Its only now that I realize the HAFX has done this. I am going to take out the Front panel thingy completely and leave it out.

Now I have a UD9 with broken USB ports which will cost me like $50 bucks to ship and i will have no computer.
2 Dead 32GB USB flash drives.
And Now I will never buy another cooler master product again.

PS I did happen to get the Kingston USb RMAed but am still awaiting on the Corsair

so im pretty sure the first batch didnt check right by their quality assurance team. they release it to the customers/public. without even checking it. its their quality assurance fault they should fire all those guys and hire a better qa inspector/manager. i always like coolermaster case. but this issue is not fun at all.

This is definitely an issue CoolerMaster should look into because many people might have the problem but haven't turned on their LED yet. If by any chance they choose to turn it on, it might fry up their mobo completely.

I'm going to request a replacement front panel from CoolerMaster and see how it goes.
Once again thanks for pointing the issue out.
In india there won't be any RMA or warranty if products go wrong in this manner.. Please do reply anyone.. Are there any new Batch coming outs with solutions for these... If there are how do i make sure they are rectified ..
Thanks

I am 99.99% sure that your firewire chip is burned out because same happened to me when I first turn on LED light. It smelled only for the first time and after few days I notice burned FW chip on my motherboard. Check it, please. For reference, you can see how it looks like in my first post.

Just check wires on your front panel following pictures in my first post. If you have questions, just ask it. If you don't use firewire on front panel, don't connect it just to be on safe side.

No it isn't. Insulation is what the plastic/rubber coating is on the wire. Isolation would be placing something between the wires. Space would quality as isolation in this instance.

You don't have this plastic protection but I see that your wires are OK. Especially, red wire from front LED, I see it is OK, no broken insulation. You can see on Page 1, at the bottom my pictures how red wire is broken in my case and those sharp pins that stabbed the wire. Yours seems OK but it wouldn't hurt to put something between pins (on the other side of green plate on your pictures and wires).
