Why is the PD 805 so cheap?

why is it so cheap compared ot the 820 when it only has 133mhz less? i was thinking on getting one. how do they overclock?

Its because it only has a 533 MHz FSB, as oposed to the 800 MHz FSB on the 820.

Also it doesn't have Hyper-Threading!!!

It is becuase of the buss speed. Yes you will notice the difference in a533 and a 800.

Looks like the 805 is a good budget CPU, scores were all pretty close, only 2s off on the 1M SuperPi.

Course, when the 920 drops in price (I think in April or May) it would be worth the slightly extra to get the newer dual core.

It doesn't need HT for that matter, because it has 2 cores, only the EE's on the Pentium D's have HT.. It's cheap because it's an entry level processor to an expanding line.

yea i agree its the 533fsb that brings down the price so much. nothing a little overclocking wont fix. If your interested in how they perform i'll tell you in a few days mine should get here wednesday.
