Venice core is better than Newcastle. Regular Windows will work fine.

That is a socket 754 so you will not get a Venice core on it unless you buy a Sempron (Venice) 754 processor.

I think that the Sempron64 (Venice) is a better processor than the Athlon Newcastle but there might be some who disagree. Certainly you will get a better overclock with the Venice Sempron and it will run cooler.

Note the 256KB Cache. Be careful to get one with the 256KB Cache as there are some with 128KB.

Go down a bit on the mobo, and get an asus. Most reliable boards out there. Then, save up jsut a tad and get the 3700+.
Edit: Off topic, but how does sinister have a rep power of 2 and only 39 rep and 1 hardware review?

The 754 will not give you dual channel regardless of the mainboard you choose. You need to move to socket 939 for the dual channel abilities.

Decent motherboard and Athlon though. I'm not sure if you can't find a Venice 939 and Nforce4 939 board for close to that price though and which would be a better way to go.

When you help someone out they can (if they choose) click the "REP +" and increase your "Rep" or "Reputation".
