OEM means Original Part Manufacturer. For example, Corsair has many OEMs including Seasonic, CWT, and Flextronics. OEMs are the people who actually make the product although it might be sold under a different name.

But the meaning of OEM has been skewed so that it just means like bulk packaging and such.

I'm still buying one anyway. I need a new power supply, and I feel like going completely and totally overkill.
Could I use a 650-800w instead? Yeah.
Do the reports of squeal and "oh noes upside down stickers" kind of worry me? Yeah.
Do I care? No.
I'll report issues if there are any when it arrives, probably on Wednesday.

Yes, that's very unnecessary but I don't care as long as you realize that it is overkill.

Tell us how it turns out.

Why would you upgrade from a 1000w to a 1200w, your system probably doesn't even use half that probably.

I can't sit and read through all these posts for the useful ones. I was going to get this PC tomorrow or the next day, but I see too many bad reviews on NewEgg and then this thread. Whats a good PSU to get instead of this. I plan to have a watercooled i7 930, with two gtx470s + one 8800gtx physx card on air. Im thinking of a Corsair HX1000 but I wanted more power.

A quality 850W would suffice. I recommend the Silverstone Strider Plus 850W or the XFX BE 850W.

I registered here today specifically to reply to this post. Please let me know how this 3rd unit works out for you. After seeing your posts here and at Newegg I have asked Engineering to pull some random samples of the 1200s and see if we find other units with these same issues. We take situations like this very seriously and we are looking into it. We apologize for your inconvenience.
