Any ideas?
some mods cause things like this,i had the same trouble,i installed a mod everything was fine, saved in a city and then it crashed, reloaded and crashed again ...i tried turning off a few mods but was never able to use the saved game (i was lucky auto save was on)

it's worth just turning off a few of the mods you've installed and try again, but i doubt it'll allow you to load it ,still worth a try though

personally i'd bite the bullet and redo the stuff again as if you turn off the mods you'll lose stuff (i think)

I had this problem where my sister would enter weynon priory and it would crash. This wa a major problem as she didnt want to start again, and she needed to do it for the main quest.

Something else to try as well as removing akll mods is to undo ALL tweaks you have do to the .ini files.

I suggest backing up all your saves and doing a clean install. Thats what fixed it for me.

Only if the mods add in new items etc. When i removed my mods (that increased textures sizes / better water mod / quiet feet mod / coloured map mod) it didnt cause any side effects.

Something about oblivion has been bothering me. When ever you enter a level all the AI are created based on your current xp.(I think thats right) Well when I first started playing (2 days ago) I thought the oblivion gate first level was a little hard so I will go do other things and get better before I do the main quest.
Well I completed all the mages guild quests and dark brotherhood and then decided im good enough to do the main quest. Im at level 21, so I enter oblivion thinking im gonna whipe these rodents out and complete the easy tasks first. I was wrong that place was packed with people who kick my butt over and over again. And im thinking that this system is a bit unfair I dont see room for these quests to get any tougher and a bit let down. Am I wrong?

No, you just did it wrong you leveled to high before started the quest. Making the main quest crazy yes its on the unfair side but most people dont level before starting the main quest. The first gate really isnt that hard, but now that you have leveled your in for it on the other what 31 gates or somthing like that sorry man.

If you are finding it hard, you probably leveled in the wrong areas. I never found the game hard. You will be doing TONs of oblivion gates, so youll need to be able to breeze them.

Steme: One of the first player mods for Oblivion was to fix the creature leveling design. Essentially, someone at Bethesda (probably a suit type) decided it would be best to have the creatures level up as the player levels up - that way there'd always be a challenge wherever you went (I guess that was the inane reasoning) - so you have DYNAMIC creature leveling as opposed to STATIC.

Of course - the problem with that idea (and it truly is an atrocious one to implement for an RPG), is that the player never gets any kind of sense of accomplishment because no matter how good you get - your obstacles will also remain the same. Talk about boring and frustrating!!

In any case - REALLY - in my opinion, if you're just playing the vanilla version of Oblivion (i.e. without installing player mods) you're missing out on a whole lot of improvements that have been made since its release. Some major modding has occurred by devoted players and the game has been improved immensely with the mods - stuff that Bethesda should have had in the game from the get go.

Oscuro's Overhaul 1.3 mod is perhaps one of the best and largest. It fixes the creature levelling problem and a whole slew of other frustrating game elements. Oscuro's mod also adds tons of new weapons, items creatures - has bundled or integrated into the mod other useful user mods as well. Just adding this one mod would improve your game immediately and address your original leveling complaint.

Another fantastic user mod is "Natural Environments" which really improves immensely the weather like effects in Oblivion, the weather graphics and even doubles the range of weather types and patterns that can occur. Also more creatures are added along with more natural creature AI behaviors.

Ok ive read some of the tweak guides and followed some of their tips......but this question has to do with v-sync and "max frames to render ahead" on nividia cards, the guides say to disable these features. After seeing no improvments from any of the tweaks ....i pretty much said *** and maxed out frames to render to 255 (the tweaks suggest 0-3) and enabled vsync. my settings are set to ultra high, hdr enabled and resolution at 1280x1024.
so with these settings enabled i now get 35-40 fps in the forest and it normaly never drops lower then 30......some more insight on these features would be helpful thanks....

vsync limits your fps,set it to off and you should be fine
