BF2 locking up!

Thread Starter
Ok, my friend has a very good gaming rig (he spent $3500, but I don't know the specific hardware in it so I can't tell you. I think maybe the graphics card is an x800 series though). He's sure he has the proper drivers installed, and has DX9c, as well as the latest BF2 patch (1.21). He can play fine offline, but when he tries to play online he'll load the map up and join the game. Sometimes it freezes right away, sometimes he will be able to choose his kit and spawn point, but no matter what, when he joins the game to spawn he'll lock up a split second after spawning.

I haven't experienced this particular problem myself or read anything about it so I can't help him Got any ideas you could help me relay to him?

Ouch spending that much on a system and only having an x800..

He would only have a x800 if he bought it retail

I would say to uninstall the whole entire game completely and reinstall, then install the proper patches. I've had to do that with mine a couple times after doing some changes, especially after trying upgrade to SP2.

If at first you don't succeed, uninstall and reinstall again

He's tried re-installing the game and patch already =\\ He just has a ****load is all he can say haha. He doesn't know, but for 3500 I'm guessing it's atleast a gig. He plays smoothly offline.

Yea, well he doesn't know much at all about computers so he just got the local computer store to give him the "latest" gaming rig. This is about 6 months ago that he bought it

Call EA: 1-650-628-1005

Ive been playing BF2 since it came out. Ive never experienced this particular problem, though numerous problems like that happen all the time in BF2.
