Router/modem moving questions.

Thread Starter
I've been having problems with my internet. i have a line for dish running upstairs into the bedroom on the 3rd floor. if i un-connect that cable from my switch and hook up the line comming in from my cable box (their both in the basement) could i move my router/modem upstairs and have better signal. it seems like a good idea, just not sure if it would work.

Cheers

Madkat

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around that config...

But I can say this...

Everytime you spliut a cable line, you half the signal.

You want your cable modem on the primary first junction in the house.

ok, the wonder of stick lines:

Attic
3 lines for dish in
|
|
|
2nd or 3rd (depending if in basement)
Router/modem
|
|
|
|
Basement
Cable box in (comcast internet)
Dish switch + existing cable up to bedroom
modem/router now

If i remove the existing cable from the dish switch, join the cable comming in from the comcast box (cable internet), they both meet up, and have the line go up from the the basement, and stick in the router/modem upstairs, and be good?
