about my x800xt

Thread Starter
Hey guys i just overclocked my pe to 510/530, with stock cooling.
I'm planning to o/c some more once i get my ati silencer 5 v2.
Just had a question. Do i always need to turn on ati tools and select my overclock settings to apply those settings? cause usually when i restart, it goes back to default 500/500.

Second question. what is this flashing bios thing? is this the step i need to take to stop with my first question? (meaning changing to my o/c setting everytime i start)? Please explain, and if so, How do i got about flashing the bios? I own OEM ATi radeon x800xt. THank You

Well you can make ATI tool start up with the pre applied overclock everytime you Start-up windows. Flashing the bios is you applying a different bios to the card which in simpler terms applies different and more permanent settings to the card.

Running my AIW x800xt at 555/586 with stock cooling fan.
I chose to use the Omega Divers ati tray tools instead of the ati tool.
I set the card to run at default when in 2d mode and it automatically goes to o/c speeds when I launch a 3d application.

You could also use RadLinker to apply the settings automatically on startup.

I'm not sure if you have to subscribe to this site or not but heres a location you can download the program from.

Aren't the X800 XT stock speeds 500/500?

You say "your pe" which means Platinum Edition, which were rare for the X800 XT PE but they had a stock speed more around 520/560, which would make your card underclocked.

If its the non-Platnium Edition, then the extra 10mhz on the core and 30mhz on the memory really isn't gonna make for any noticeable differnece, might as well keep it at stock and run slightly cooler.
