http://www.tigerdirect.ca

which one would be the best PSU for under $100(CDN)? thanks in advance

edit: i was looking at some Ultras from tigerdirect.CA, but ive heard bad things about them on the forum...

I would say the ANTEC Truepower is your best bet. Atleast 400Watts. 500Watts would definitely cover you, but 400Watts should be just fine also.

Based on the price and noname brand in the link, I would say that no, it isnt good. With PSU's you generally get what you pay for. I have a FSP (Forton Source) 400Watt I bought for 40 dollars, It gets good reviews and I have to say it is rather nice.

Word of warning about putting an after market PSU in your Dell. Most if not all PSUs you can buy have an on/off rocker switch. Dell PSUs do not have this therefore do not have the correct cutout where the PSU goes. I was going to upgrade the one in my GX270 but the rocker switch kept me from mounting it correctly. A drimmel would have solved this but I decided against it. I thought I would need more power with my 6800 in there but it runs fine with the stock one. Just something to keep in mind when considering the PSU upgrade on a Dell. Then again the 4600 may have the correct cut out.

thanks for the replies .
i also saw that Ultra for $9.99 just a couple hours ago and was just about to get it, but i decided to check here first and have read that some ppl have had some bad experiences with them and that they can blow and ruin other components as well!
the Sumbeam seems to be good, but i also read something about them dying after a couple months or something similar (also in this forum). tho i havent read as many problems w/ the Sunbeam as w/ the Ultras .
about the dell cases. ya, i heard that for most Dells, the back of the case has no hole for the on/off switch which are on most/all ATX PSUs...but fortunately, the back of the 4600 is completely open .
any other suggestions? thanks again
