Had to do an RMA with a set that went bad a few months ago (PC 16000 2X1GB) and it's my fault why they did - OC'ing and lots of voltage will kill a set in a hurry and it doesn't matter who makes them.
Anyway, got my RMA ticket #, sent the sticks in and received a new set that was a 2x2GB kit because they had quit making the set I had sent in and so far, so good with these.
This is the only set of OCZ's that's went bad on me to date and I have a few older sets of OCZ DDR I've owned for years now. It seems to me after DDR2 was released, they began having problems and it really got bad once DDR3 hit the scene.
Sorry to hear about your probs and can't blame you for how you feel, esp with what you went through and with the news of OCZ getting out of selling RAM, it's the same pattern that's been seen before from other companies bailing out of making a certain product line.
DFI's troubles with the LanParty line of MB's, then their announcement to quit making hardware for OC'ers falls in line with this and several years ago, Soyo did the same thing getting out of the MB business entirely.
Soyo made at one time some of the best OC'ing boards you could get and were high quality pieces of hardware - However once the KT333 chipsets appeared, their stuff started showing up with problems.
Soyo had to ease out of making boards instead of bailing straightout to preserve it's overall rep and after the KT800 series MB's were done, that was it. Now they make consumer electronics and that's about it, nothing for PC's except monitors and maybe one or two other things.
With OCZ's announcement and recent history, it fits right in with the rest we've seen before. Even the poor customer service fits since DFI and Soyo had the same thing happen when this was going on with them too.Edited by Kryton - 8/29/10 at 1:51am
