A Few Questions about the Big Typhoon.

Thread Starter
Im new to all this and I have been hearing A LOT of good things about the Big Typhoon. I just have a few questions...

1. What RPM does the fan stay at? my PC Now keeps around 3500RPM.

2. I know this thing weighs like 800grams. Well you have your mobo upright all the time... how does such a heavy thing STAY on the chip? Does it BOW or bend over time?

3. I have an Asus A8N Premium mobo, does it bolt up quite good with this mobo?

I dont know the answer to the first one, but for the second, the bolts that come with it are very long and fat and sturdy. They hold the thing up quite well. And yes, it should fit nicely on your mobo.

My stock Big Typhoon fan stays at 1360rpm steady, my idle temps are 32c and 41c full load. I decided to order a higher speed fan to try and get the temps even lower, i should have it by the end of the week.

It seems pretty secure if you take your time and mount it correctly. It sits on your cpu and a bracket sits over the center of the typhoon and bolts to the mobo with 2 ( 1 on each side ). As far as bowing or bending over time, i would'nt know. The typhoon seems pretty strong and if mounted correctly there should'nt be any problems.

If your board has the metal plate on the back like mine it should take no time at all. I brought the 2 bolts up through the bottom of the mobo then spun two nuts down to secure the bolts. Then set the typhoon on the cpu (With AS5) with the bracket and secured it with two nuts. Then spun two more nuts down on each to keep the nuts from coming loose. Seems pretty secure and solid!

Hope this helps

I havent built my PC yet but my mobo is a A8N SLI Premium... not sure if it has the bracket...

anyways, I was debating about this cooler or the ZALMAN CNPS9500

the Zalman is alot lighter.

The Typhoon comes with a selection of brackets if needed and pretty decent instructions on how to install.

I do not think you can go wrong with the Zalman either. Either cooler should serve you well!

Fits my mobo fine, lots of room. I use the stock back plate and it is strong enough to handle the TT. I had an higher RPM fan that I put on that runs 2100. no bending or bowing.
