Why didn't you get a real water chiller instead of the air conditioners? That'd be cheaper and offer more performance.

And out of that 2 million they wouldn't even give me a single dollar for funding for this computer... it kinda sucks...

And yes, that is my actual internet speed. A couple mods to the cox modem and... 236MBPS!!!!

You go to st margarets in sjc? I live in mv and my cousin goes to school there.

Dude pleaaaase tell me what you did to your modem. We have the same provider I want those speeds smile.gif

Ok guys, I've been gone for the past two weeks but now I am finally back! However I am still waiting for the SR-2 to arrive... at this point it should be very soon.

Once I get all the components, I am also planning to do a live stream of building this rig!

Damn nice rig though. For the best rendering results CPUs are actually better though and with 12 cores and 24 threads I don't see why your system would lack processing power on that part. Are you sure this rig isn't going to be used for gaming only a little bit rolleyes.gifbiggrin.gif

Also, what are you going to study at college?

(if you already answered some of the things I questioned, please forgive me as I did not read all page smile.gif)

Thanks for pointing out that the Quadro's have ECC memory, I forgot about that. And yes, I am sure that it will rarely be used for gaming biggrin.gif.

In college I'm primarily planning on studying/creating stuff like quantum light sensor PCB's, along with some general electronics engineering. I also really like creating any electronics inventions. Thanks for asking smile.gif

Suprisingly, a real water chiller would actually be 3-4 times the cost of an AC and only chill the water to around 15c while a window AC, if properly submerged in the liquid, can chill it to about -40c. Don't know where you came up with that unless you thought that I was just blowing cold air on the water?

How did you know?tongue.gif Just taking a random guess but is your cousin Aran Ko?

And about the modem: you have to desolder some of the resistors on the PCB and basically trick it into giving the "Cox power boost" infinitely. I wouldn't do this though for more than a few minutes at a time though or Cox might notice something is up... I just did it to put the crazy speedtest.net result as my avitar biggrin.gif

Well, this made me say what the f*** about 10 times as I read what you were buying... You could use this as a gaming PC for the next 5-10 years probably... Not that you are doing any gaming with this, but it would kick ass.. Wish I had an 1/8th of the money you are using to buy this computer... That would get me a beast computer as it is.. But nothing compared to this.

Hey guys, I know it's been a while, but I finally received the SR-2 and GTX 580's from EVGA!

IMG_88514.jpg

_____________

On a side note, while I was waiting for the components to arrive I had to put the computer build project on a temporary hold, so in the meantime I built a 2300mw 445nm Blue Laser:

http://i370.photobucket.com/albums/oo150/Nintendogs2/Computer%20Components/IMG_8854.jpg

Also yesterday I modified a Staples "Easy" button so it turns on my computer when I press it (lol). I'm thinking of making a tutorial for this biggrin.gif.

So that's basically what I've been doing with my recent tech projects if anyone was wondering. I'll be going back to working on the computer build now though smile.gif.

Ah i remember your ram thread a while ago. Nice to see you went through with it. Isn't easy button great? It's surprisingly resilient. It's probably laster over 10,000 foot stomps from the doc verification task I had to do a couple years ago. It served as a left click w/ stationary cursor.

Edit: If you wouldn't mind doing a stock setting bench I have a somewhat similar rig to compare it to, swap to 5660 and less storage, but supermicro motherboard. Interested in how bad it impacts 3dMark

If you would be so kind : )
