So you aren't even old enough to drive, and you just spent around 28k on computer parts?

(It is hard for me to admit this, but I am actually super jelly of your rig - Awesome build man!)

But was it really necessary to but an SR-2? Wouldn't a 990x and the new one that's supposed to be 47% faster than the 990x do fine? And the phase change - really?

I don't fully understand the power you need for your work, so won't criticize, but am wondering if you might of gone a little farther than needed smile.gif Not that that's bad, this is OCN, so kudos to you my friend! Nice work!

Nope, it's actually still not powerful enough to edit my video in real time. I can tell you that it'll do it faster than anything else out there though

Besides, on OCN nothing can ever be too fast.

Thank you for the clarification!

akrEagle, you might consider being the bigger person here by just posting a generous amount of pictures with your requested hand written name in a few of them. As of right now the "I'm gonna take my ball and go home attitude" is just serving to spark arguments and in general degrade the quality of the thread. Posting the pictures would serve to avert future arguments and negative comments. It's clear that some people are determined to not believe you. Why not kill two birds with one stone and impress the people who think you're legit, and silence the ones who don't?

I for one believe you, but I don't like reading a thread with constant arguments in it like this one. I'd rather look at a beast computer.
It's just that I'm sick of posting proof and evidence over and over again. I started out with your approach, and I've probably proved (like 60 or something?) people wrong in this thread. Unfortunately I had to find out the hard way that if I spend my time to go post some more "evidence" then the haters may calm down for a day, but 5 pages later they'll be back hating and BS'ingk, and the whole cycle starts all over again.

Just a question, you forgot about the build for a few months or waited until the thread got revived before doing an update?
Thanks.

On top of being very busy with Summer School and some medical issues, I mentioned a few posts back that my Corsair HX1000W killed 1/3 of my components a couple of months ago. It took a while to try to resolve the issue, and I was able to revive the SR-2, but I ended up having to buy some of the components over again. This was probably the most significant delay, but I finished getting a replacement for all of the components that were obliterated 2 weeks ago.

I completely agree.

Wait... that's a perfect name for the build! Skynet! Or maybe I should just call it Death Star and attach my 2500mW laser to it... well, it was a nice thought.

Seeing as this thread started a WHOLE year ago and people kept saying that you build a fake rig doesn't really put you in the trust seat.
But if that's your rig that you posted I guess I'll say good luck in building that rig you have.
If you don't have any time to search through the thread then don't claim that it's fake.

Also note that the "people" you refer to were nocturnal trolls. They a very cynical species and usually come out on OCN from 3AM - 4AM.

I would love to see some of your work OP. Not because I don't believe you, because I do. I just think a little insight into some of your projects would be cool. What does your workflow look like etc. Nice build by the way. I don't understand all the hate against building a crazy fast system as long as you use the system productively.

Another question (maybe too personal idk): has the work that you use this build for payed for the build?

For example I know a lot of photographers that spend 10k plus in photo gear, but pay for that amount with one assignment. Conversely, I know a lot of photographers that simply enjoy the creative freedom of having diverse (and expensive) gear, yet they make little or no money from it.

Basically, is this a hobby for you or a job?

Thanks, I would say that I am a "selected" volunteer. Unfortunately nobody else at my school knows how to edit video on anything other than iMovie so the studio really needed me there. I don't get paid very much, but I honestly consider it more of a fun hobby anyway.

EDIT: I lol'd at your Avitar, best Steve joke i've seen.

Exactly. I still don't even have a permit though so I keep it up there. I just haven't had any time because i'm about to enter my most difficult year of school (Junior) and I still have my 8 other tech projects to finish! How could I solder something in the car if I'm the one who is driving?
