Notebook/Tablet PC help.

Thread Starter
Hey guys, I need to get a portable computer for a family member ( I call it a portable computer, because that's really all it has to do, be portable, and be able to type stuff, hehe. ) I preferably would like to keep it as small as humanly possible while still keeping the price low. No need for some high end crap, Needed for MS XP Service pack 2 and mostly taking notes while in class/typing stuff up, that's it. And if possible, for it to be able to link up to wireless internet WIFI.

I'd like a Tablet PC but I can't seem to find one, you know the ones where the keyboard folds out, those are leet. It needs to be very cheap, sub 1K if possible, most likely less as I am paying for it as a present for some one else and I'm pretty well broke what with the new upgrades and all.

Links from www.ncix.com
or bestbuy.com
or www.futureshop.ca are greatly appreciated!

You will probably not find a NEW tablet pc for under 1k as most are still around the 12-1500 range for entry level.

If you want a SMALL laptop I see alot of power users using thinkpads like the one I use while traveling.

My T42 is awsome but... if you want a really good deal...

check this out... REALLY LONG ASS LINK HERE

Best Buy for Business... if that link does not work sort by HDD size get rid of all the 80+ gig drives and then sort screen sizes.. get ride of tiny and huge screens... and you can get some REALLY good deals..HP Compaq Business Notebook nx6110 - Celeron M 370 1.5 GHz - RAM 256 MB - HD 40 GB - CD-RW / DVD - Mdm - LAN EN, Fast EN - Win XP Home - 14.1" TFT XGA (1024 x 768)

While I am REALLY not a fan of compaq... that is a really good type only notebook.

I know alot of people around here do not like Dell, I use them alot to get systems cheap or fast or sometimes both. I just ordered two laptops for a couple that are doing generic things like email, surf, etc with some mods to the sound for the husband as he is fanatic about music. We were able to get two of them for 1200 and some change including 1gig ram on each and shipping inc.
