i7 Build for a Friend - Plz Critique!

Ok, this build will be for a student of mine. He's a high school junior, plays console games, and wants to get into computer games. He currently doesn't have any games but will be buying a lot over the next year with all of those great Steam sales. Let me know what you would change. I tried to give him a lot of performance and some future proofing without breaking the bank.

Please don't suggest parts that cost 2x as much. It would be great if we could all tri-SLI GTX 480's but that's not going to happen. If you can offer a significant performance boost for a small increase in price then ok, otherwise please look for ways to offer cost savings or small performance gains for the same price.

$200 - i7 930 (bought locally from Microcenter)
$295 - EVGA X58 + 3x2GB DDR3 2000 OCZ Reapers (after $50 MIR)
$260 - MSI GTX 470 + Just Cause 2 (after $30 MIR)
$150 - 60GB OCZ Vertex 2 (after $20 MIR)
$185 - 1TB Samsung F3 + 650W Seasonic X650 Gold
$100 - CM Storm Sniper case (after $30 promo code EMCYWZV36)
$20 - 24x LiteON DVD Burner w/ LightScribe
$70 - Corsair H50 (after $10 MIR)
---------
$1280 Subtotal
$2 S&H
$13 tax on the i7
---------
$1295 Total (after $110 in MIR)

The Seasonic X650 is better than the Corsair HX series (and therefore also better than TX) and is only $110 after the combo savings, which is a good value in my opinion.

I know that motherboard can only support DDR3 1600, but the DDR3 2000 speeds of those Reapers can be achieved through overclocking the FSB which I'll obviously be doing anyway to overclock the i7.

Also, please recommend me 1920 x 1080 (or 1920 x 1200) monitor! Also welcome are cheap but good keyboards and mice.

Thanks guys!

It looks good, really good. Some of your wording is wrong, the msi gpu is actually a 470, not 270. And the psu is a seasonic, not ocz.

The build looks incredibly solid. Now for a monitor, I would have to recommend my monitor, the xl2370. I did months and months of research before I bought this monitor and i'm glad I did. The picture quality is amazing for a tn panel and the resolution and response time are perfect for gaming, fps gaming in particular.

As far as cheap mice and keyboards go, what is cheap?

Thanks for the reply. Yea I caught the 270 typo but not the PSU. Spent too much time looking at SSD's... haha. I think I have OCZ etched in my brain.

Just took a look at the monitor you recommended, looks pretty solid. I'm definitely a fan of Samsung monitors.

As for what is cheap... just not like a $60 keyboard and $60 mouse. That just seems crazy to me. Maybe under $30 each, or under $60 for both. But if it's really worth it, I'll entertain arguments for more expensive parts.

For mice, I would say the best has to be either the g500 or deathadder. The g500's laser can pretty much track on anything but the deathadder truly shines on a cloth mouse pad. Now, if we are talking about keyboards, unless you want to spend some big bucks on a mechanical keyboard, keep your budget under $30 because they are all pretty much the same.

Yea that g500 looks nice. Only $30 after MIR today only... he'll need to jump on that.
