Anyone use this PSU, is it nice and silent and most importantly will it run a eVGA 7900GTX? I cannot seem to find any psu that has a 12v rail higher than 22A's

For the price, the Hiper is best. There are better PSUs (like the SeaSonic S12 series and Fortron Epsilons), but these are around £100. Then there are PC Power and Cooling which have some beastly specifications and awsome reputation, but you probably won't find a new 510W unit for under £150, and the 850W and 1000W are more like £300+ :/

Plenty of PSUs have more than 22A on the +12V, you might just be looking at one single rail. Most modern PSUs have dual 12V+ rails, with either both around 20A or one slightly more powerful than the other, ie. my 480W Hiper has an 18A and a 16A rail.

No, definatley not. The Tornado drowns out everything except the chipset fan on this DFI at full speed.

Don't make the mistake of thinking (like everyone else seems to ) that I have the PSU you are looking at, that is the 580W Hiper TypeR. I have the 480W TypeR that is no longer on sale.

I know, the 580 is rated at 18db is that audibel? Also am looking to run a 7900gtx and people say that you need a psu with 22A on the 12v rail. But I've never seen a PSu with that many amps on the 12v rail!

I believe that 18dB is just louder than a whisper. The sound will definently be drowned out by any other fans in your case.

Edit: And the 22a is assuming the PSU has a single 12v rail. The Hiper 580 will power the 7900GTX just fine.
And, for the record, my PSU has 28a on the 12v rail. It's starting to die, though.

The TypeR 580W will handle a 7900GTX easily, no 18dB will not be audible over the rest of your computer.

You will not find a high end PSU (maybe even a mid range one) that has less than 22A on 12V+. Like I said, you might just be looking at one single rail, and the unit has dual rails so you have to add up the 12V1 and 12V2

I have a hiper and I gotta say I haven't had any problems with it, it is more than adequate and no It doesn't make any noise

a, thanxs muffin so will my current psu handle a 7900gtx? Its this psu

http://www.aerocool.us/p-psu/Turbine...urbine-psu.htm

its the 550w version.

I got kinda confused in this link

http://www.overclock.net/nvidia/80667-enough-juice.html

I thought it was 22a for one rail, I didnt know you have to add the 2 together.
