does everything seem to work well together? I plan on OC'ing my Opteron farther down the road to like 2.8GHZ or 3.oGHZ

Very nice rig. But i suggest getting a sunbeam 550w nuoo for the psu. And also maybe a 7900gt or gtx instead of that.

I thaught of something, I am planning to buy my next rig this summer and I'm thinking of getting a ATI mobo, something like the Asus A8R - MVP32 deluxe. What do you say about that? It seems to be an excelent performer, at least on par with nf4 SLIx16, and it seems to be a solid OCer. Besides, there is a patch (I posted the link on another thread) for the detonators that alows SLI on ATI chipsets too.

My point is buying this ASUS A8R mobo you have performance, OC headroom and the possibility of using both SLI and Crossfire.
