Guys.. I got a dell flat panel 17".

Max resolution is 1280*1024.

I want to go higher. I cannot seem to find a flat panel from 17" - 19" that can go any higher. What kind of monitor do I need to exceed the above resolution? Only crts??

you can get a 20.1" lcd or higher that goes to 1600*1200

why would you need higher in a 17" lcd? fizzy and blury. i use 1280*1024 @75hz which is not bad

The refresh rate doesn't really make any difference with LCDs. 1280 is a fine resolution for a 17". YOu should be most concerned with response and contrast ratio.

I know for my 19" LCD the max res is 1280*1024, I guess it is pretty much standard until you reach the 20"+ size LCD's, they can run 1600*1200. If you want to run a really high resolution get a CRT or a bigger LCD.

Thanks all for clearing this up. I play game called Joint Operations and I could not figure how guys on there shoot me from so far w/o using zoom and hit me. So I asked one they said to boost my resolution.

Thanks

even if you had a higher resolution, your video card would not be able to play at those high resolutions smoothly

Why not? If he has the card turned up just right he should be able to run that res at medium settings.
