If you are trying to install on the current system that the image is on you can use Daemon Tools to mount and run the installer without burning any discs. I would also like to say you could transfer the iso via any usb/hdd device and do the same on another machine. It has benifits over a dvd, you can reach better install times due to transfer rates.

One of many reasons why daemon tools ownz.

This thread should be nearly conclusive for what you want to do. If you get stuck on how to burn an Iso, you can probably just search on google how to use ImgBurn

When I try and burn image via imageburn, it asks me if i want to make the disc bootable. It takes me to a folder where it asks me to pull up a boot image....how do i find that?

If I'm not mistaken that should just be the ISO file.

no no
just open up img burn click on the 1st icon "write image to disk"
and then drag and drop the .iso file to the imgburn window, and click the big write button at the bottom

You just click the icon with the magnifying glass on it and search for an .iso, set the burn speed, make sure Verify is on.

I'm pretty sure it does it automatically but make sure the program is in "Write" mode also.

What program are you using? Just select .iso as the image extension when you create an image of the folder.

So. I'm using Windows XP. I downloaded Win7 as a rar (it did it automatically). I extracted it and then opened imgburn. Since there is NO ISO yet I selected READ (to convert the folder into an ISO). As i do that, a screen pops up that says

"Your image contains an 'install.wim' file in the 'sources' directory so I'm going to assume it's an OS installation disc. That's fine by me, except you haven't told me to make the disc bootable."
Should I skip that and continue w/out doing so or go to the advanced tab and make disc bootable? If I do there are a lot of other options that i'm confused about, which was my first question
