Yeah, go through any tweaks, make sure you have the newest drivers that kind of thing.

Defrag hard drive, turn off services that are not used.

Check out this website. It has many tweaks you can do.

Laptops dont overclock CPU wise. Emonster has a very similar laptop, I'll get him to come here and tell you what he does.

Getting new and up to date drivers for your hardware and tweaking windows will help you aswel not to mention defragging your computer.

Overclocking a laptop is a possibility depending on the motherboard inside it. I also own a Dell laptop and have been able to overclock mine from 1.6GHz to ~1.73GHz.

Note: It is risky when you overclock a laptop as the increase in frequency will increase the temperature a fair amount in a laptop due to the inclosed environment it is situated in.

Overclocking a laptop via the use of the BIOS is almost an imposibility without modding the BIOS in some way. The way to try it is to use software overclocking applications.
  • CPUFSB
  • SoftFSB
  • SetFSB
  • ClockGen
These applications are just about the best out there and will allow you to overclock a fair amount.
Warning 1: As this is done via the use of software preventing the increase of the PCI-E/AGP/PCI clocks is inpossible in most cases and this will reduce the amount you can overclock.

These software applications will require that you name the name of your motherboard, chipset and most of all the Phase Lock Loop (PLL) chip on your board. If you do not know all of these then you will need to find them out before doing this.

Warning 2: If you enter any of these incorrectly you risk doing physical damage to your laptop's CPU, especially the PLL chip. Most cases it will crash it, but on rare cases with wrong values being entered it will actually cause major errors and possibly physical damage.

Increase the clock speeds slowly and do not let your values for the following exceed these warning values:
PCI-E: 110.3MHz
AGP: 74.2MHz
PCI-E: 37.1MHz

In a lot of cases though its as bigval says and laptops will not overclock, it just depends what hardware Dell or any other manufacturer put in it
