Building a new BUDGET computer - Page 2

Intel < AMD

Besides the traditional clockspeed argument, the budget semprons give more bang for buck than the cheap cellys.

See, the reason I posted this under Intel, is because I am looking for an intel. Also, my PSU has 20+4 pin ATX + 12VDC 4-pin connectors, so I shouldn't have any problem there. And, my minimun RAM I am looking for is 1GB. I am, after all, going to game alot. Not much, just enough to keep me happy and still stay under/in budget.

EDIT: I'm not looking to OC my memory or my CPU, since I'll be running the stock coolers for a while. The memory will get heatspreaders that are in this rig. I have some Artic Silver and some heatsinks I hacked from a P2 heatsinks, I'll put those on my vid card.

BUMP

This rig is almost ready for me to sell, and based on your opinions, go with the cheapest but still good stuff. I can't do it this morning, because I'm leaving for school in a bit. I'll try and come up with a theoritical system after I come back (given that theyre in stock) from ZZF. Thanks for all your help.

CPU

I just built a budget system for my sister using that CPU (total was $405), but the 805 is only $3 more (went on sale after I already assembled hers ).

At that price, getting the 805 just makes the most sense.

Why are you dead-set on Intel, AMD is great for budget systems also.

Because I (mostly my dad) want something faster than 2.6Ghz and my dad just hates Cellys and Semps, also there is nothing faster than 2.2Ghz (I believe) in AMD within my budget.
