do i have to flatline HD?????

if i get a new CPU do i have to re format my hard drive? or can i just take the old one out and install the new??? its not the same processor, ill be going from a 2.6GHz to a 3.2GHz

It's best to do a complete reinstall to get all the old drivers out and start fresh.

Honestly, dont do anything, if it is teh same core, then you are all set.

If worst comes to worst, you have to reapir windows, but that is a long shot....

Changing the CPU doesn't even affect windows. It doesn't care. All it sees is more clock speed. Recommending a reformat for just a CPU change is foolish. If the CPU is the only thing being changed don't worry about it. I doubt you'll even need to run the repair. I've been doing this for quite sometime and have never had to re-install windows because of a new CPU.
