Ultrasone HFI 780 vs Proline 750

So I've narrowed it down to these 2 models, I was able to get great deals on both but one has run out.. The situation is this. An ebay store had the proline 750's on sale for 159.99, free shipping continental us. Unfortunately they've run out of stock and I'm left to buy the HFI 780's for the same price.

Has anyone ever owned both and compared them? I'll be using them for movies, music and games. Trance, some gothic metal, death metal I guess, classic rock, rap, almost every genre.

The problem is, I can't really wait for the pro 750's unless I absolutely know they're a tremendously better headphone because as it stands I'm not able to have them shipped to be, shipping to Canada is $40, + border fees. So I'm going down to Ogensburg, New York for some shopping and to pick them up.

Is it worth it to hold out or should I snatch up the HFI 780's while I can?

Why are you looking at Ultrasone only? I own the PRO 750 and I'm happy about them, but I wouldn't use them for every genre. I only like them with electronica/house/trance, rap, classical music. For rock (all sub-genres) I would seek another headphone. It's not that it's bad, but I've heard better.

I have a feeling you would probably enjoy the 780's better since you want to do everything...and from what I've read on reviews on the 780s they have more bass quantity but not great highs, while the 750 have everything tighter.

Narrowed it down to the ultrasones because I love my trance, and the price I was able to get them for was ridiculous, 159.99 for the 750's >< Tighter sound though sounds more appealing than bass, crystal clear accurate sound always trumps bass to my ears.

Then the 750s would sound like the better choice!

I don't know if you can afford it, but I would recommend getting an amp. I don't know much about amps or portable amps...but the 750s require a little more juice than your PC or a PMP would offer, my opinion of course. It might be due to the "stiff" drivers though, but I own an iBasso T3D a low tier portable amp (~$135) and I find not only I get more volume control, but the bass sounds deeper and the highs are more clear.
