What Hard Drives to get when configuring Raid - Page 3

Your best bet might be to set the two SATA2 discs in a raid-0, and use the SATA(1) for manual mirroring/backup. But reed some of the treads on raid, before dooing it. It all has dis/advantages.

Reason I suggest this is, that the raid aray will be set to the specs of the drive with the lowest specs. ( you force your SATA2 drives to run SATA1 )

Actually, i'd get 2 of these:

SATA 3.0 plus 16 MB cache will help out

If your putting more stress on your chipset via overclocking or just generally heavy data moving and such... these are not for you... one allocated sector error can start off a chain reaction that toally destroys the functionality of the drive... I know i just sent mine back for an rma.... they are fast as heck though iv seen somewhere they match raptors in some tests.
