Nvidia geforce 6600gt drivers causing problems

this noob needs help so bare with me

say i right click a video file (windows media, or one with a picture icon.....***)
the screen will go black an then restore with the list of properties ect.
i try an go to nvidia settings in quick launch an it does the same black screen restore thing....

if u need specifications let nooby know!!

Have you tried updating the drivers. Which version of the drivers do you have?

Completly uninstall the drivers from add/remove programs. Restart and use drive cleaner to remove any extra files left over. Select nvidia from the drop down menu and click clean. Then restart and install the newest drivers

i used the ones on the disk for a few mins, no problems, went to 84.21.....still all good, i went a little crazy uninstalling each drivers an reinstalling another....ive tried 4 drivers in all an now i still get the same crap

driver cleaner thing could help, a link please?

I'd suggest using Driver Cleaner Pro to uninstall all the drivers. Just Google it and you'll find it.

heh i have slayed a few geforce 6600's in my day i dont know if its me or if they just OC notoriously bad... i have rid the world of 3 of them.. and gone ATI but anyways... you should try to completely remove the card.. as if it was never there then just reinstall it o.o if that doesnt work.. just toss it in the barrell after having some fun shooting at it with something

lol 4ghz on a celeron....anyway

firstly it aint overclocked in anyway

secondly....you mean tear it from its agp hole an poke it with a stick?

no i mean like software wise... like just bomb all the nvidia software and reinstall it with the retail cd
