CPU or RAM?

Thread Starter
Ok, I have my CPU at 2.5 GHz with a 10x multi and my RAM is running at DDR500@3-4-4-8 (its rated speed). However, when I run Prime95 it fails the blend after almost 1 min! However, when I run the Small FFT's test, it runs fine. Does this mean that my RAM is unstable at its rated speeds? Also, it is at 3v. Any tips would be great!

I think if you pass the Small FFT then your ram should be fine. Try uping the vcore. Maybe there is not enough juice to the cpu.

Exept that in Prime95 it says that the Small FFT test doent test the RAM much, but blend tests some of everything, so wouldnt that mean that if I pass blend my RAM should be ok?

Have you tried running memtest. That is specific to memory and could probably let you know about the RAM. I dont know much about AMD setups so as far as the timings on the memory, maybe you can loosen them up a tad bit and try it. Its pretty much trial and error.

And you are right the Small FFT test the cpu not the memory. Sorry about that. Trying to go from memory. i havent ran the program for a while.

Holy Crap! 3v???? Why? I have the same RAM with the same overclock and my RAM is at 2.6v. 3v???? Holy crap dude. I have 250 x 10 with HTT at 4x. (make sure your HTT is 4x otherwise you will be unstable, 4x250=1000)Memory is at 3-4-4-8 DDR500 2.6v. vCore on the CPU is stock at 1.4v. I am stable in Prime, SuperPi 32M, OCCT, all 3dMark tests, etc. Lower that RAM voltage to 2.6v or 2.7v, better yet leave it on auto as that where mine is. You do not need 3v on that memory in fact I have read many times that this RAM functions best between 2.6 and 2.8. See if that helps.

I was thinking what chips and maybe your running to much vdimm too!
Or, if your RAM is fine with that vdimm get a fan over it to bring down it's temps!

UCCC. WAY to high. These suckers want 2.6 to 2.7.

hmmm, I would email OCZ.... sounds like your RAM is bad.

for my UCCC, the sweet spot was 2.63v

2.6 and 2.7 gave me constant errors in blend testing, 2.63v and they were flying!

UCCC is very picky, but these are some extra tweaks that did it for me:

max async latency/read preamble = auto
dram drive strength/data strength = 7/3

im using a different mb then you, but hopefully it works. good luck!

Like the others have said, your voltage is way to high. UCCC and TCCD chips don't like alot of volts, it's the ones based on the Winbond BH-5 IC that requires a lot of voltage to do much.
