You should definitely remove your cpu overclock entirely and re-test. If the problem goes away ... you know where the issue lies.

It is actually possible for a new GPU to cause a previously stable CPU OC to become unstable.

Wow, i set my cpu and memory back to stock, and i don't want to speak too soon, but that may have been the issue. ive played 25 minutes of metro and 30 minutes of warhead and no crashes so far. I'm also thinking this may be the solution because if i ran out of power, i feel my computer would crash/turn off. If it was heat, it would say the display driver stopped working. The crashes actually do seem to be more along the lines of cpu instability, as i had BSOD'd one time a few days ago. Perhaps my cpu was on the border stable...and the 480 was enough to cross the line. Thanks for all your help guys...i'll keep you updated.

try a different PCIE slot? or try with just one OS drive?
get furmark here: http://www.ozone3d.net/benchmarks/fur/

and try running it in WINDOWED mode to see if it crashes, then fullscreen if it doesn't.

not futuremark lol, Furmark. can be downloaded here: http://www.geeks3d.com/20100419/tool...8-2-available/

it's a really good app, it lets you stress your GPU 100%. If it crashes/freezes/bsod then probably your card is faulty. If something happens that shouldnt happen, you can always try reinstalling windows and test again.

Something is probably stealing power from the 12v rails, or it's not giving enough juice on the 12v rails. Good luck!

Whether or not the card also crashes (or does not crash) on Furmark means absolutely nothing useful. I wouldn't waste your time, frankly.

The fact that it's crashing when you're gaming is really all that's important, and that's what you need to fix.

Although I doubt it's your psu causing this, which one do you have exactly?

I agree. First I would run memtest86. You may need to bump your nbridge voltage. Having all four mem slots populated takes just a bit more juice.
Memory servers the pci e lanes and the memory controller are all on the nbridge.

All good info, thanks i know its for the other guy but i will have to try this with my 470 and my OC as i have been having game crashes with graphical issues since i got the card, didnt think that it could be the CPU OC as it was fine with my 5850.
