Processor being read wrong...

Thread Starter
Ok, did a search and I have a question. My PC reads my Athalon XP 2400 as an Athalon XP 1800+. How do I correct this? My first thought would be to flash the BIOS to a newer version, but I'm not to keen on the idea of flashing due to the fact that I am short funds to buy a new motherboard if I was to have a major malfunction. I'm not too worried about that it just shows up as the 1800+, but I'm not sure if I'm getting the full performance out of my processor. Any suggestions?

You might have to go in the bios and set your fsb up higher, what kind of ram are you using.

here ya go

If my memory serves me correctly it's DDR-SDRAM manufactured by Nanya Technology, I'll have to take my PC apart to take a look at all the parts that are blank in my profile, so I'll do that later and then update.

Oh, and the problem is when I looked up the code on the processor, it was an Athalon XP 2400+. My motherboard is reading it as a lower version.

There should be a setting in the bios to set your fsb to 133mhz which is what the chip is, some older motherboards have a jumper setting by the cpu to set the fsb.

You need to either Flash your Bios or Change you FSB by changing a little jumper on your motherboard from 100MHZ to 133MHZ.

Ok, I'll do this in a bit as soon as i get my backup rig online. So if i run into a problem, I have access to the net.

Ok, first off, I did not find a pin/switch to change the FSB from 100MHz to 133MHz. I did find the readout in the CMOS, but nothing to allow me to change it. So, I'm thinking that my only option is to flash the BIOS?
