Are you using an hdd that previously had windows on it. If so, format again so that it doesnt have any traces of windows on it whatsoever.

In this case, it could be the CD. I have many times where one cd would work for one pc and other it wont copy the files. Try to get another xp cd and better if you can get one with SP2 already installed.

Wow, your posts are hard to read, take more time next time.....

I suggest using the XP CD to format, use NTFS file system, if all else fails, use the Manufaq's stuff to wipe the hard drive.

EDIT: http://websupport.wdc.com/rd.asp?p=s...Diag504cCD.iso

Their is the link to an ISO of the Westren Digital Util's.

Since you already burned an ISO of windows XP, just do the same for this.

Yea i dont know why you are using 98 to format. Windows xp will format the drive for you right before the install. Make sur eyou select full format and not quick.

Actually formatting a used drive using a win 98 cd can be benificial.

If you format using fat 32 it will detect and mark bad sectors where as ntfs justs formats with out looking for defects. If you format fat32 bad sectors are marked and then format with ntfs and it will skip over the bad sectors. This proccess has saved my but a couple of times.

Above: Seagates disk wizard ISO. I suggest a low-lvl format (re-rezeroing the drive.)

It may take awhile but it will TOTALY erase the drive, basicly purges data.
