My new 9600XT is running slow

I ordered a 9600XT From newegg (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814129033)
Its suppsoe to be at 500mhz core but its running at 400 and i cant overclock past 420 w/o it going insaine. worst off my memory clock is suppose to be 600 but its only at 310 w/ all the OC i can do to it! I would really appreciate any help i could get

If its running at 400MHz core, you may have gotten a 9600Pro. You cant get a Pro to run at XT speeds without voltmodding. As for the memory, it runs at 300MHz base clock and 600MHz DDR effective clock.

what do you mean 600mhz DDR clock, is it possible to run it at 600mhz or no? also what kinda clock rates you got on yours?

I had a mistake w/ the core clock for some reason i thought it was running at 400mhz normal but i guess not sorry, but why is my memory so low?

you multiply that x 2 and you get ur real memory speed. So it would be 618mhz.

It's a marketing thing. Since DDR transfers at double data rate compared to regular memory, they like to make you think it's running at 600mhz when it's actually 300. In short there's nothing wrong with your card at all.

its like how your ddr400 runs at 200 MZ instead of 400MZ
just OC it until it reaches the max
ATI tool has a little function to do that right?

Yep. Its the max GPU and max Mem settings. Just click them and let the ATI tool do it all for you. Those are some pretty nice speeds for a 100 dollar card, i only paid 80 for mine but of course I'm nowhere near you lol...

i've attached a photo that i took for a previous question, the speeds are both identical
