My Dual Core Build - Soon to buy sometime this year - Page 10

If I may make a recommendation, if your going dual core, and have hopes of overclocking in the future, you may want to consider the Opteron line.
This: Opteron 170 2.0ghz
may clock higher than the X2, run cooler, and is a few bucks less. (it still has 2mg L2 cache as well)

I most likely will not go SLI and i heard alot of bad things about the ASUS A8n mobo how the chipset fan is loud but there was a revision and the new fan spins slower?

Did you read my comments about the fan?
I have the first generation of that board, and yes the fan got loud, however, disconnecting it changed the temps very little. and if your a stock'r then that board will work great for you! In fact if your a stock'r then the MSI will probably be great also! In the end, the decision is yours, and yours alone.

one more thing, if your not going to go with SLI you could go with one of these boards as well.

yeah the asus doesnt have IEEE 1394 and the DFI one got bad review and some DOA if my NZXT case has firewire and my mobo dont can i still use the front firewire for a firewire device?????
Seriously, don't make your decision on newegg reviews . They are all one sided, unrealistic fanboys who want to screw over the company which they are bad-mouthing. As for DOA, blame the UPS monkeys.
