What's the best free software to use for recording video games and other stuff displayed on my screen to post on youtube?
And also software for video editing?

If the free ones aren't good enough, are there any worth paying for?

Well yeah. I don't know any other software that'll give you good quality for free. It'll be super laggy and super glitchy in games. I say Fraps will be the cheapest with the best quality. If not you could get a capture card.
