okay...i just got a new p4 prescott 3ghz. i am running ddr400 2gb of ram. my temp right now according to asus probe is 44C and my motherboard is steady at 34C i just installed a thermaltake m12 heatsink and fan, artic silver 5, a thermaltake smart fan, and a aerocool x-blaster. damn is my machine loud. it also has an antec fan blowing directly on the cpu from the side case panel. i am wondering if there is a way to OVER cool your computer or have too many fans that blow too strong. i have been reading around and alot of people with my same setup(p4 and asus m/b) are getting temps of like 38-39C and under load 45C. why is mine so high at idle?

any help would be great.

Actually too much airflow might be counterproductive--but it would have to be a lot to cause the temps ot actually rise--have you checked your HS install to make sure a part of the mobo is not holding it up a little off the IHS on the CPU? That is a common issue.
