Big Typhoon Temperature???

Thread Starter
ok so I have raidmax 668 case with x2 3800+ with big typhoon just installed. My mobo tells me my temperature while idle is 36c. Is this good or bad?

Idle temps are almost meaningless (unless they're extremely high of course).
What you should check is your load temps.
Run Prime95 for 30 minutes or so and check the CPU temp readings. Load temps should normally remain below 50C but you should expect good results if you correctly installed the Big Typhoon and you have good case air flow.

I hope you didn't use that white thermal compound that comes with the Big Typhoon because frankly it's trash.
Do yourself a favor and get some Arctic Silver 5 and use it... once it cures you will notice another significant drop in CPU temps.

I have same proc. and the Big Typhoon as well. As I don't have your case it is probably different for you. I had to cut a hole in the side panel to allow for the fan to get enough air flow. Not sure about my idle temp I keep it overclocked and folding now . At 100% load my proc never gets above 49C, and that's a spike in the temps usually at 47C or below. (oc'ed to 2.5 right now)

hope that helps!
