Memory

Heya Guys! Mistwraith again with a few more problems, OC is still doing good, running stable. I ran memtest86 from a boot up floppy, had 56 Problems. All in one super bad stick of ram. I took the other three tested them one at a time, and I got no problems. After 1 pass, is that enough? I put all three in, and I get one problem on test 6. I need to know how bad can a bad ram module be? I fell asleep and it ended up running 17 passes, and the problem came up 6x, so clearly its not everytime, it's random...typical. Can I continue playing with the bad ram, only game I've had problems in is WCIII, and usually a crash in D&D but easy relog to get back in.

I was thinking about pulling the sticks again, running them each for two passes. Is it possible slots on my motherboard are bad? For instance, if I put a stick of ram into the 4th slot, even if its the same kind which it is, 4x512, It shuts off the ram slots 2 & 3, and 4, leaving me with 512. I've met the overclock guys, the registry guys, the tweak guys..all admirable men...right as I'm so close to having this PC perfected...I need a memory guy. Also, how does one go about RMAing?

I would suggest you take out a stick, 1gb of ram is still very good. The reason your probably having arrors and such is because you have 1.5gb of ram, which isnt a good amount for overclocking...or anything.

Edit: Also, the amd motherboards have a problem with more than two sticks of ram.

IF your concerned with a possible RAM slot issue. Determine 1 absolute good modules then test it in each slot. Slow but sure method.

hm? 1 GB is better then 1.5 GB? This does hold some truth when I use to break the 1GB barrier with 'ole PC2100, it would crash in wCIII, hence I remember why I backed down to 1 GB. You say I should run 1 GB, and this will help with everything overall? Also slots 1 + 3 for dual channel right?
