GIGABYTE GTX 460 BIOS Tweaking !

Hey everybody !

Since I could hardly find any information at all about unlocking voltage control on the Gigabyte GTX460 1024MB, and since for some strange and unfathomable reason nobody on this board seem to buy the gigabyte card, I'm making this thread to help people out.

First of all, flashing the card under FreeDOS did *NOT* work and only bricked it, so if you plan on using my BIOS make sure to flash using some sane DOS environment. DOS 7.1 is what I used.

The voltage cap on this bios has been removed, so the card can go up to 1.213v. To flash, you should get nvflash 5.95 or higher.

Code:
nvflash -4 -5 -6 gigamod.rom
Here are my clocks ATM:

Core: 880 (stock was 715) @ 1.125 V.
Shader: 1760
Memory: I'm keeping that at 1800, stock.

This is all on air using the stock cooler with the fan at 100%; temps stay under 55 (this card never saw idle, dunno about that).
Any faster and I get artifacts.

let me know if you need other modzz/help...

I just use the modded F2 bios by nvspecv81. The F2 BIOS from gigabyte already had 100% unlocked.
I run 910 @ 1.150V and temps never go above 76°C

I did a death run yesterday and got 950 @ 1.212 stable but temps reached 86°C

This obviously didn't work since my card was bricked, but that's true as well. I'd still recommend flashing under MsDOS instead, way safer.
My fan could already go to 100%.

And Akiba, if you do brick one card it's OK, use the second one to reflash the first.

I just use a win98 bootdisk that just has msdos on it and nvflash, works perfectly for me

btw with the first bios i got better OC results then the F2 bios so i'll flash it back and test again

BTW your bios, is that the stock first bios or the F2 bios that was "leaked" ?

So i shouldnt flash whit the gigabyte utility? Im a bit ashamed but i never flashed using dos.
i used it and it works fine, but i advise you you have an usb stick with the needed files so that you can blind flash your card if something would go wrong and if you use the gigabyte utility don't forget to make a backup of your bios with gpu-z !

btw i just checked the vantage scores of my oc 460
stock 715/1800: 15428 3DMarks
overclock 900/2200: 18610 3DMarks
That's more then 3000 points difference, i had 7000 with my 9600GT before i got an 460
