The only car I've ever had a boosted engine in was a supercharged 1968 MGB.
Only 180 bhp, but is more than enough to make an MGB fun. smile.gif

I always wanted to try changing out pulleys to get more than 7psi of boost, but I was afraid the old tractor engine wouldn't be able to handle it.

The car project I really want to do some day is to restore my Triumph TR7, and drop a supercharged Rover 4.6L engine in it.
A >400 bhp V8, in a 800 Kg rear wheel drive car, is way more fun than is sane, or legal in many places. biggrin.gif

I love boost and a supercharger is my favorite way to get it biggrin.gif I just love the sound of a blower at WOT with a cold air intake.
My 04 Monte Carlo SS has a supercharged 3.8 liter v6. I've done a few things to the engine and dropped a pulley size and get 10 lbs of boost and ~300 crank horse and over 375 lb-ft of torque. Next step is a set of headers and cat delete, one more drop in pully size for 15lbs boost and a good dyno tune. Its pretty fun to drive for a mid-sized fwd and I can't wait till good weather so I can take my studded snows off and put my real tires back on so I can enjoy it more. The snows hate any torque so I have to be easy on it with them on.

When I pay it off next year I'm buying a new car for a DD and the monte will become a weekend toy/project car. Eventual plans are to slap a cam in it with roller rockers, polished heads and a whipple supercharger for hopefully 500+ horsepower biggrin.gif

I agree with you about the sound of a supercharger though, especially when it is accompanied by the roar of a V8.

While I appreciate the technologies involved, most of the modern cars, with the super turbo charched >150 bhp/L 4 banger engines, sound more like a high speed blender, with marbles in it, than they do a car...:rolleyes
All the government mandated safety gear in them weighs them down to much too.:

Well, I found out why I wasn't getting any PPD gains past 1000mhz.

Nvidia decided to make the 3xx series drivers cap 5xx series video cards to a maximum of 1000mhz.
The OC can be set higher in Afterburner, and it will show it as being at the higher OC, but the actual operating clock speed is throttled back to 1000mhz.

The older 28x drivers do not cap the clock speed, but they are not compatible with core_17 WUs, so I can't use them. frown.gif

I agree with you though, RWD is the way to go. Although my next DD will probably be 4WD, 2L, 4 cylinder and 280HP.

I don't have any experience with this, but can you mod the driver to remove the cap?

I thought you knew that. I discovered this a while back. That's why my clock is at 999.8mhz. And the Core-17 isn't as good PPD as the older Core-15, at least on my 560. I do have the 266.66 driver saved on my system so I can hopefully get past 999.8.
