You mean Pentathlon. And if you truly knew like you claim you would know I ran out of PrimeGrid work units to crunch almost 48 hours ago tongue.gif

So yeah, it's exactly like I said: murderously high levels of heat for ambient make a graphics card too bloody hot, not to mention place is just too hot to keep anything up and running.

It's 35C or higher where I live for a couple months of the year. Not to mention it will be 100% humidity and not a rain cloud in sight. We all have air conditioners. Really handy.

If it hits 30C here that is a heat wave, and at over 8,000ft (2438m for our Canadian friends :D) 30C feels scorching hot in the sun.  Same goes for the humidity we start complaining about it being muggy here if the humidity hits 50%. :D  The flip-side of that is, the over night temps are below 0C for 9 months out of the year, and -30C isn't uncommon in the winter.

I live in an old building with virtually no circuits (four if you don't include the ones for the oven) and a 60A main breaker. Keeping things so I don't set off a breaker is virtually impossible, and as for air conditioning good luck finding a reasonably decent unit for a good price let alone somewhere I can plug it in here. So can't wait to get a house. That's before we mention the 10x4' west facing windows, and that while I can open the windows my upstairs neighbour literally waits until we get the fans all set up before chain smoking cheap cigarettes and marijuana stems, thereby forcing us to shut all our windows as fast as we can before I wind up throwing up (I'm highly allergic to cigarette smoke, and smoking stems make a stench more awful than a dog that rolled on a corpse and then got sprayed by a skunk... )

And as for heat, once it goes above 25C outside, I start running into problems with heat exhaustion. Let's put it this way: if the heat keeps up like this, I might wind up waking up in a hospital thanks to heat stroke, and I'd rather not have to deal with those kinds of symptoms again.

Kind of the same here, except we usually don't hit 35C until the mid July to mud August time frame, and even then it's only for at max two weeks total, and there's normally some sort of wind happening as well. Usually it's only 25-28C as a high, and while borderline heat exhaustion territory for me, it's bearable (especially with things like slurpees, Popsicles, etc).

The past few days the winds have been still, with attempts at thunderstorms (we had a few really good booms last night) but no actual rain.

Most of May was record hot weather for here too,and they're predicting more of it for this month too.

Hey guys. Due to my current situation, I'm no going to be folding for the foreseeable future. It pains me to say so, but you should replace me as your i7 folder. I cant tell you when Ill be back to my normal, if any output. Sorry to let you all down, but I don't want to hurt the teams forward progress.

And much as I'd like to stick with it, I'm finding a much greater enjoyment out of running mostly BOINC. Additionally, hubby has politefully requested I step out of it not just because I've been turning the living room into an unbearably hot sauna, but also because despite my current denial about it, it's taking it's toll on my mental health, and essentially making it so I'm not enjoying a wide variety of other things.

Thanks for all those hours you logged folding on your i7, and if you come back to TC you would be a welcome addition to any team. :D

Thanks for making a go of it, and thanks for saying from the beginning that it was possibly just a temporary thing. :thumb:

@uniwarking are you also bowing out of TC?

Looks like I need to get with the cap'n and do some recruiting.  Can't let the Police's reign at the top continue without a challenge. :D
