But If linux is 10% faster...then the OC's will be different between OS's?

Or should I run it in windows for a couple days...flash the bios, then switch over?

For an OC that is right on the edge of stability, I have found that I have to drop my Windows clocks abot 10-20MHz on average to be stable in Linux.  As long as you dial your Windows clocks back a hair you should be good.

I had no clue that It was different limitations of gpus per team...which makes sense now and is kind of cool.

@TickTock Of the gpu you listed/need what is the best producer? I'll just grab one of ebay. Too bad my 280x is....x

So @tictoc got a mention that he didn't receive and you didn't even try with me. You are naughty. tongue.gif

Think of it as...not wanting to warn the opposing team of their downfall? wink.gif

@lanofsong So the PPD Police are on top? I'm sensing there is some police corruption going on...

Linux before any OC, should give you a 10%+ bump in performance.

Is this true if I run Linux under VirtualBox?

For the CPU yes. SMP is also more efficient in Linux. For the GPU you would need to pass it through to a VM, and the gains would be minimized due to GPU pass-through overhead. If you wanted to try it out you would have to use ESXi, or some other bare metal hypervisor, to pass the GPU through to the guest OS.

Ok, got the card running. So the PPD to beat is around 140k? Just trying out some OC's on driver 373.06.

Does memory clock matter in folding?

Not as much as the core but when you are trying to eek out as much as you can, then it will matter.  Max out the core first then the mem will be a little bonus.
