help overclocking p d 840

<-- ya that says 3.92, but that was with auto settings. I'm aiming for a stable overclock and playing with more settings now. Anyways, I can get the comp to 3.8 ghz just fine with decent temps and everything, but I'm having trouble getting it to boot at anything above 3.82. I tried raising the vcore. It's at something like 1.32 right now to no avail. I tried raising the pcie frequency to 105 mhz, but that didn't work either. I tried loosening the ram timings like crazy (6-6-6-7-24-26). It still would not boot. I tried clocking it a little higher to see if it just didn't like that oc for some reason. That didn't work. I also have the side of the case of for better airflow atm. It boots to the logo screen, and stops. It will go further when I try entering the bios. (It has a 5 second delay on entering the bios). When I do that, it gets to the screen where it says the nvidia raid 0 is healthy and all that stuff. Also, I only adjusted one thing at a time, and I have tried all of the combinations. I'm afraid to raise the vcore a whole lot more. (It maxes out at 61c at a 3.125 vcore. So, any suggestions?

Well, it boots up now at 3.84... after being off for about a minute or two. Perhaps it is a heat issue. I'll stress test it for 10 minutes to see how hot it gets. (and if it shuts down.)

okay, well it froze, but the temps never got above 59c, and it hovered mostly aroud 56c. It just spiked once to 59. I'm open to suggestions again.

I believe that board has the nVida nForce4 chipset, which is not the best for overclocking. This may be your limiting factor. I recommend the intel chipsets: i955X (P5WD2 Premium) and the i975X (P5WD2-E Premium).

Would that decrease gaming performance at all? I know now that nforce4 chipsets limit overclocking, but what is the difference between it and the intel chipset? How does it affect the sli?

Intel chips only allow for a limited use of the second video card at either 4x speed or 8x speed, not the full 16x.

I thought that SLI doesn't work on Intel systems, why people bother buying 2 video cards?
