Dual display w/ Mx440 help

Thread Starter
I found another CRT monitor laying around and I was about to purchase a DVI to VGA adapter to put it with my other CRT for a dual display. But before I did I clicked on the settings tab in display properties and noticed that there wasnt an option for a second monitor like there is on my laptop, instead it just says plug and play monitor on Nvida Mx440......

I looked around and didn't find my card on Nvidia just the 64mb (I have the 128mb) version yet that said that it could support dual monitors.

I was wondering if I connected the second monitor would it work or whatever the plug and play is would automatically adjust for dual monitors, I'm a noob so could anyone help?

Right-click on your desktop and choose "Properties" Then choose the tab "Settings" and the button "Advanced". Click on the tab marked Geforce MX440.

On the expanded page to the left of the Properties you will see the first left hand table of contents displaying "Nview Display Settings". Set for your second monitor there.

you have to connect second display first, then you'll see the option to enable it
post #6 of 18
Yea, what discman said.

It won't let you enable any options for somthing you don't have.

If it's got the 2nd monitor connection, you can do dual monitors no matter what.

I have an mx440 and yes, it can do 2 displays., and NO you dont have to plug it in first. I have the option right there. Get the newest forceware from thier site, theres an option in there.

Huh, I dont have the option, and when I go to the Nvidia site I see the 64mb version but not my 128mb.

(I got two of these cards for 30$ when I get some more $ I think I may buy a better card, I dont do much advanced stuff tho basically AIM, and Word)
