Upgrading from Gigabyte 6800nu (vanilla)

Hey guys,

I need some advice as far as my next video upgrade. Ive got a Gigabyte 6800 nu with the pipes and extra vertex enabled, and overclocked stable to 380/850. Im still stuck in AGP, event tho I went AMD 64 ( i upgraded my processor and board about a month after I bought this card, so I stayed AGP). I want to try and get one more upgrade for TES:Oblivion before I switch over to PCI-Ex. Im also trying to keep it in the $200 range. I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice as to what cards I might look at?

Heres a couple I was looking at....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814241010 -X800XL for $180. Would this give me a big enough performance boost?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814102609 -an x800GTO for $170

Any advice you could give would be much appreciated.

I would stick with what you have got......that 6800NU supports SM3, and performs pretty well already. If you made a switch to one of those two cards, you would be going technologically backwards. I wouldn't go for any ATI x8** series card because of the lack of SM3 , and the x8** don't perform so well in Oblivion.

If you could sell your current card for about $90-$100 (or maybe even a little higher), add that to the $200 and get a 7800GS.....that would be your best bet.

Other than that, keep with what you have

yeah I was getting a feeling that the only way I could go was a 7800gs...

Keep what you have, save up and when you go PCIe get something awesome like a 7900GT, or a G80 if you plan to wait that long.
