Yes I had to set sound to 48khz, luckily I don't need 41k as 5.1 ch and subwoofer wont work below 48khz it seems. I had to remove all settings in CCC for gfx to get rid of the lag also, couldnt even use vsync or tripple buffer from what I could tell. Have to use game config only, after doing that tho I have no lag at all, and game looks as good as it did for me b4 patch..

Is anyone still playing this game? Reinstalling it right now to give it another go. Bought the CE and got into the prerelease playing...didnt make it past day 3 because it was so buggy. I hope SE have fixed a lot of stuff!

I try to log on once a week just to see what has changed/improved/gotten worse.
Still I usually don't play more than and hour or two... Everything is pretty much a ghost town as of late and other then explore, leves, behest and crafting there is not to much do.

There was so much potential, but SE still has there head in the sand when in comes to simple things like full screen crashing on alt+tab and being to grindy. But at least the game plays smooth now.

Shame, I was thinking about picking this game up. I played FFXI for about a year, and was hoping this game would be even better than it was. After reading through posts and reviews, I think I will just find another game to fill the gap.

Heh, so this thread is still alive ?

I just reactivated my acount about 2 weeks ago to give it another wirl.

It's somewhat better in the sense of minor improvement under the hood, but still not ground breaking. The next incoming patch (1.19) actually has a lot of nice improvement in it, which is going to impact the game some more. Hopefully there's going a few of these patches coming (I hear people actually hinting 1.20 will be just as important if not more)... Then again most of us just think 1.19 is taking us out of FF14-ALPHA.

It still has lots of growing to do, that's for sure.

On a side note, since there isnt a lot of people playing, and no real selling history or AH system, you arent getting anything sold. I played 3 days last week (say about 12-15 hours) and I only have sold 2 stacks of ingredients out of the 140 I gathered. No more room in my inventory but to do Craft Leves every 2 days.

If you played FF11 and want a nice summary of the state the game (pre-1.19 patch that is coming), give the following link a click and scroll down to "Chocobits" post.

Anyone playing? I burrowed a copy from a friend and playing on his acc thought of maybe buying it. But then i ran it, and one thing put me off that you cant alt-tab or game crashes, second the game horribly optimized i cant run it on max settings with my rig thats just outrageous! I get around 5-12 fps in the beginning of the game >_> wth!
Did not like the combat system either >_< way too slow paced.
Anyone figured out why the hell is this game has such bad performance?

I'm sure this issue has been addressed by many before but I've yet to find a good thread on it.

I'm running FF XIV on a Phenom II X4 955 BE overclocked to 3.8GHz, an ASUS GTX 560 and 8GB of RAM. Despite my more than adequate setup, FF XIV just does not want to run smoothly when set to high and highest settings. Even with low to medium settings, I can only get around 24-32 FPS. I also experience random, massive dips in frame rate while playing.

I just find this issue odd because I have absolutely no problem running BF3 and Skyrim on high to highest settings with more than acceptable frame rates.

Am I missing something or is the coding of the game itself really that bad?

I've read about version 2.0 and I understand that it's a massive overhaul but I didn't see anything pertaining specifically to frame rate issues.

If anyone has a similar setup and found a fix or a good balance of settings, let me know.

I'm actually new to Final Fantasy XIV and I've liked what I've seen so far. I'm not really a graphics snob but Final Fantasy landscapes are SO MUCH better when they look great, graphically.

P.S. I got the collector's edition for $30.00 at GameStop! Inb4 version 2.0 and price hike.

UPDATE: I'm running it on my TV now (1360 x 768) instead of my monitor (1920 x 1080). Could it be that the game just does not do well with 1080? I am getting 40 - 55 FPS now.

Hi,

New to the overlock.net forums, well not really, I'm an occasional visitor for all the info that the community discusses. Some topics have saved my day on more than a handful of occasions.

Quick question on FFXIV.

Has anyone figured out the sweet spot for settings for this game with a Radeon HD 7970?

I am running the game in 1080p, specs are below. The graphics is enjoyable on standard settings, but whats the point of a 7970 if I don't push it a little bit. I tried a few different combinations in FFXIV settings, but AO and DoF just seems too much.

CPU: i7-2600k oc'd to 4.5GHz
RAM: 16gb 2133 DDR3
GPU: VisionTek Radeon HD 7970 3GDDR5

I haven't OC'd the GPU yet and I haven't tried the BIOS update yet (thank you overclock.net for all the info with that thread).

Just wondering if anyone found a sweet spot for this GPU and this game.

-ibe
